Job Description

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team! Students pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with month end close and compiling various financial reports for management use following all accounting principles and government regulations. This role will also assist with budgeting, forecasting and preparation of audit and tax documentation. Someone who is a good fit for this position will enjoy working both independently and in teams, possesses strong communication skills, and be deadline and detail oriented.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information in order to prepare journal entries related to general ledger accounts, and documenting business transactions.
  • Coordinates the completion of the balance sheet account analysis and reconciliations.
  • Prepares, verifies, and controls the entering of journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Evaluates subsidiary journals for obvious errors and omissions and enters corrected data into the general ledger.
  • Performs all tasks associated with the general ledger (i.e. enters monthly journal entries, executes monthly closing entries, executes month-end general ledger).
  • Ensures timely processing of month end close functions.
  • Assist in audit preparation.
  • Assists with monthly P&L analysis and prepares departmental reports.
  • Support AP & AR processing and serve as a back-up as necessary.
  • Update and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
  • Assist with special projects as requested.
  • Effectively communicate with peers and management to ensure accurate processing of requests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Pursuing or have already obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

Experience and/or Training:

  • Understanding of basic accounting concepts.
  • Ability to work both independently and with teams in a deadline and detail-oriented environment.
  • Adept at troubleshooting, problem solving and responding to customer requests.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential data and use sound judgement is a must.
  • Proven problem solver.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel Skills.
  • Ability to adapt computer skills to new systems.
  • Ability to maintain effective cross functional working relationships and function as a team player.

Licenses/Certificates:

  • Have obtained enough credits to sit for CPA exam preferred.
