Job Description

The Senior Vice President, Real World Evidence Operations, is responsible for development and execution of strategies to enable profitable RWE operations business growth:

  • Against revenue, margin and new business targets

  • Through delivery of a portfolio of studies incorporating primary and secondary use of RWD to generate RWE; RWD licensing, access and provision;

  • As a centre of excellence supporting Epidemiology, COA science and use of sensors and wearables to capture patient data in real-time; and

  • As an engine to evaluate and harness emerging and innovative RWD / RWE opportunities.

As a leader of a globally oriented department, the role will lead development of competitive, high value solutions for our customers reflecting, as applicable, relevant regulatory guidelines. The role will monitor industry, regulatory, market, and stakeholder trends to lead development and execution of an RWE business growth strategy built upon best scientific, regulatory and operational delivery models. They will support and lead the development of thought leadership and other externally-facing materials relating to RWD and RWE.

Through strong links to internal teams and external data owners, the role will ensure that our RWD licensing and technology strategies enable the evolving needs of RWD-powered studies.

The role will proactively lead the development and management of processes to ensure key business metrics and targets are available, monitored and realized. Crucially, the role will align across the matrix with leaders of GPL, GCO, GDO to ensure we deliver high quality customer-centric solutions throughout the project lifecycle, from opportunity identification through delivery and closeout.

The role will also collaborate closely with SVP Access Consulting to ensure alignment in strategic intent, and to enable capability and operational support as needed, share market and other insights, and identify and support RWD / RWE investments, both internally and externally.

Key Accountabilities

Business management
  • Develops general market assessments, growth strategies and supports development / management of budgets for the management and expansion of RWD and RWE services / Consulting.

  • Provides line management, leadership and development of Subject Matter Experts and Service-Line Leaders in RWD and RWE

  • Maintains a positive, results-oriented work environment while building partnerships through teamwork and communicating in an open, balanced and objective manner

  • Establishes and maintains metrics, targets and performance goals for RWD / RWE services and manages against them.

    New business development

  • Promotes outstanding thought leadership and maintains high visibility among key stakeholders for RWD and RWE

  • Works with Commercial and Functional Leadership and Marketing to develop and implement go-to-market strategies for RWD / RWE services.

  • Leads Solutions Consultants and Integrated Solutions Strategists in developing and implementing project strategies and selling propositions for RWD / RWE services and studies.

  • Maintains strong and positive ongoing customer relationships at senior level within partner organizations to drive repeat business.

    Organizational management

  • Identifies, evaluates and engages potential collaboration partners and/or acquisition targets to fill data, technology, expertise or competency gaps supporting our RWE strategies.

  • Serves as a change agent that both understands customer needs and translates those needs into best-practice delivery models across Parexel for all relevant services.

  • Drives a highly competitive RWD / RWE model by influencing and providing direction to Operations leadership in the matrix environment.

Skills and Expertise

  • In-depth knowledge of the international bio-pharmaceutical market, the stakeholders including regulators and payers, the competitive landscape and the services required in RWD/E

  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial drive with ability to develop and execute strategic business plans for new service areas.

  • Exceptional organizational leadership skills, including demonstrated experience of building successful matrixed teams

  • Ability to lead, direct, mentor, and motivate a team of business professionals with a wide range of backgrounds and responsibilities with staff in multiple locations

Knowledge and Experience

  • 10+ years working in the pharmaceutical industry / pharmaceutical services with deep understanding of clinical research operations and / or product commercialization / value demonstration

  • Familiarity with, and ideally deep knowledge of, the RWD / RWE research area and bringing products from clinical testing to commercialization.

  • Track record of successfully enabling business growth in the context of a CRO P&L unit desirable

  • Very strong scientific / medical background with strong commercial experience, or vice versa.

  • Proven strategic thinker with experience in bringing new, profitable service lines to market

  • Ideally, internationally recognized as a RWD / RWE thought leader, though proven ability as a business leader my be sufficient for an otherwise strong candidate.

Education

  • Advanced degree in life sciences or business equivalent (Masters level or higher)

Language Skills

  • Strong, fluent written and spoken English-language skills are essential.
