Job Summary:
Generac's Intern position is responsible to work with other engineers to fulfill special design requests on our products. Under supervision of engineers, the intern will help on designing and testing high power dual active bridge DC/DC converter, develop technical skills through challenging assignments and usage of technical tools. The intern will help the team solve tough problems and help Generac deliver better solutions to our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with design team to develop testing procedure of bi-directional DC/DC EV charger.
  • Operate, test and troubleshoot DAB DC/DC Converter.
  • Pre/post processing of test data.
  • Documentation of test procedures and reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a BS degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering).
  • The ability to work 15-20 hours during the school year and full-time during school breaks.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a MS (preferably in Electrical Engineering).
  • Understanding or working knowledge of Pro-E and/or AutoCAD experience.
  • Solid knowledge of power electronics.
  • Experience with typical lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supply, DMM and spectrum analyzer.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as Matlab/Simulink, PLECS.
  • Experience with hands-on, high-power lab work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient oral and written communication and bale to write clearly and succinctly to get a message across.
  • Microsoft Office experience (including Excel).

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
