Are you a software engineer who wants to make a difference, transform medicine, and improve human health? The Broad Institute is looking for a passionate Principal Software Engineer to help us build researcher tools that will enable the next decade of scientific discovery in human medicine.

The project: You'll be working on a full stack team supporting the AllOfUs research program, an NIH program building on of the most diverse health databases in history.

The team: We are seeking a skilled engineer to be a technical leader on a team developing the AllOfUs portal, built on top of Terra, a platform for importing, sharing, and analyzing large genomic datasets. Your role will include:

  • Applying your engineering expertise to design and build new AllOfUs capabilities.

  • Integrating with multiple cloud providers (GCP & Azure)

  • Improving tooling, code, testing, CI/CD, and development processes to increase engineering productivity and satisfaction

  • Working with our UX team to build corresponding UI features

  • Mentoring engineers

Requirements:

  • 7-10+ years of Software Development experience is preferred, though exceptional candidates with less will be considered.

  • Experience delivering clear, maintainable, and well-tested software in a timely manner.

  • Experience working with product to develop and document requirements.

  • Experience as a technical leader, capable of strong communication and leading progress on a team through collaboration and influence.

  • Committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive team.

Any of the following is a plus:

  • Familiarity with cloud environments (eg., GCP, Azure, AWS, etc.).

  • Experience designing, building, and troubleshooting complex distributed systems.
