POSITION SUMMARY: Must maintain a Journeyman License and a DOT health card. Installs, troubleshoots and repairs electrical systems, and electrical and electronic components and related apparatus.
FUNCTIONS: *
- Maintains all electrical apparatus and lighting according to local and state electrical code.
- Inspects all electrical connections to ensure safety.
- Programs and/or recommends programming changes for all electronic equipment.
- Responsible for troubleshooting electrical problems with the air conditioning and heating units, telephone and computer links, conveyor, emergency lighting, power requirements, communication, data lines, new installations, and services.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
- Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to correct problem.
- Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
- Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
- May involve running heavy pipe and moving transformers.
- In performing assigned duties frequently lifts/ moves up to and including 50 lbs.
- Standing, walking, bending, and squatting are all required motions of the job.
- May also be required to lift over 50 lbs.
- Assists in snow removal as needed.
- When work in primary classification is not available, may perform other duties according to skill and availability.
