Facilities Technician

Coordinates plant-wide Facilities activities including building, utilities, heating, security systems, equipment and grounds to ensure routine operations and provide a clean, safe and secure environment. Conforms with all regulatory codes regarding electrical, fire sprinklers, gas, air, hazardous waste, sewer, fire extinguishers, building codes, OSHA, EPA & FDA regulations. Leads contractors as needed. Job requires the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in all departments. Extensive interaction coordinating work with outside contractors.

Will oversee site contractor project work and systems that include heating, lighting, refrigeration, air conditioning, plumbing, water purification, air filtering, electrical, lab spaces, air compression, building automation, cleanrooms, building and grounds maintenance along with the many Operational support services within the Facility.

Responsible for reviewing plant change controls, logbooks, Audit/Inspection non-conformances, general preventative maintenance documentation and equipment qualifications in compliance with local procedures, cGMP, FDA, ISO & OSHA standards.

What will you be doing?

  • Schedules and coordinates modifications to the facility by assigned outside contractors. Ensures work is done to S+N expectations and shows good workmanship and follows all safety protocols. Monitors and purchases parts and materials through established systems and controls to assure availability for Facilities maintenance and repair jobs. Manage invoicing and vendor payments with Accounts Payable Team.
  • Coordinates work with outside contractors regarding service contracts for preventive maintenance of facility. Responsible for maintaining accurate Preventive Maintenance records through the computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Reviews internal job/work requests daily to determine priorities. Coordinates and supervises work assignments and ensures a high level of customer service to internal customers.
  • Ensures the facility is clean, safe, and secure at all times. Inspects facility for cleanliness and brings issues to the attention of contract cleaners. Controls facility housekeeping, grounds, pest control and trash removal. Works with Security System needs, as required, and is also responsible for ensuring Fire alarm and Sprinkler systems are properly working at all times.
  • Stays in compliance with applicable company safety, loss prevention environmental standards, and regulatory requirements. Responsible to report any instances of non-compliance immediately to Management
  • Works for building support functions through light carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other trade functions, as required and as qualified.
  • Read and understand blueprints and schematics used in building layouts and electrical related items.

What will you need to be successful?

Education: High School education or equivalent required.

Experience: Seven (7) to Ten (10) years-experience in Facilities Operations and building maintenance activities.

  • Experience in OSHA & EPA regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to interact professionally at multiple levels.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and unforeseen events; excellent time management skills.
  • Handle high pressure situations and constructively resolve potential conflicts with Plant Leadership, contractors and Town Officials (Fire/Police/Building Inspectors, etc. along with State/Federal Agencies (FDA/EPA, OSHA, etc.)

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling commonly occurring for long periods of time
