Come join a dynamic team of clinicians, administrators and revenue cycle professionals who help Boston Children's Hospital patients access the best pediatric care in the country. We support physicians and nurses and the revenue cycle by financially clearing high cost services like surgeries, emergent admissions, infusion services, genetic testing, and high-tech radiology exams. Seeking an enthusiastic, creative thinker, to lead a team to ensure our pediatric patients can access high cost infusions, genetic testing, and radiology services.

This Patient Financial Clearance Supervisor will be responsible to:

  • Organize and supervise the daily activities of team members and productivity to ensure staff are working proactively to obtain payer authorizations before the date of service
  • Perform and monitor all personnel functions of the department, subject to established hospital and departmental personnel policies and in consultation with department manager
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of payer rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as they impact the billing process
  • Ensure that all patient encounters contain accurate demographic information and appropriate referrals and authorizations are obtained
  • Develop and update departmental procedures in order to accommodate payerspecific requirements and to expedite financial clearance
  • Develop and maintain effective professional relationships with representatives of payer organizations in order to obtain authorizations, facilitate appeals of payor decisions; interpret regulation or policy; gather information pertinent to current or proposed developments
  • Work closely with department manager, sharing critical information and statistical data, and developing strategies that will enhance the department's performance and human resources.
  • Evaluate, coach and train staff for development and performance improvement
  • Schedule monthly one on one meetings with team members to review improvements and/or underperformance concerns
  • Create and lead standard meetings to provide team members with any new insurance policies and updates; and to ensure account throughput and completion
  • Communicate with HR on any and all work performance, attendance, and behavioral concerns
  • Complete employee performance evaluations accurately and timely in accordance with hospital and departmental requirement

To qualify, you must have:

  • An Associate's degree in Accounting, Business or a closely related field or 2 years of occupationallyspecific education or/and 2+ years' experience is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Standard hospital EHR systems required with EPIC a plus
  • The analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and indepth, experiencedbased crossfunctional knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views and issues and mediate fair solutions
  • The ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems and situations quickly and effectively
  • Strong knowledge of overall Revenue Cycle Operations related to Healthcare
  • The ability to work remotely from any state except CA
