The Poison Prevention Education Coordinator is responsible for:
leading poison prevention efforts throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island, with a focus on promoting the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Poison Center (MARI PC) as a crucial public health resource. This position plays a vital role in analyzing poisoning trends, developing educational materials, conducting outreach activities, and collaborating with key stakeholders to enhance poison prevention initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct analysis of poisoning trends at the MARI PC and prepare monthly and annual reports for key partners.
  • Lead outreach efforts in poison prevention with target groups across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
  • Serve as a liaison with the MA Department of Public Health's Injury Prevention and Control Program to integrate poison prevention messaging into various public health programs and initiatives.
  • Develop annual goals and objectives for public and professional education at the MARI PC.
  • Craft engaging social media content for platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Google+, and the MARI PC website.
  • Develop training and educational materials for community outreach activities.
  • Ensure timely distribution of educational materials to the general public.
  • Present poison trends, prevention methods, and general education to diverse populations.

License and Certification:

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Public Health

Work Experience:

  • Preferred: 2 years of related experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • College-level educational development and two years of previous experience.
  • Analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources and apply professional principles in analysis.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views, mediate solutions, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to speak effectively on public health matters.
  • Well-developed writing skills for creating educational materials and social media content.
