Come join our dynamic Sports Medicine Team at Smith+Nephew! Be an integral part of building the next-gen platform of medical device software, encompassing cutting-edge mobile applications, digital image acquisition and processing, and hospital information systems.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and developing mobile applications to enhance the functionality and user experience of Smith+Nephew Sports Medicine devices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement robust and scalable mobile solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

  • Perform technical leadership activities including being an architect, a scrum master, lead internal and external resources/partners.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain mobile software applications for medical devices.

  • Perform design control functions to ensure compliance with FDA, ISO, and other industry standards.

  • Conduct code reviews, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure the quality and performance of mobile applications.

  • Collaborate with product management and design teams to translate requirements into technical specifications.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cybersecurity trends, threats, and mitigation strategies.

  • Conduct security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Education: BS in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science

  • MS or PhD in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science preferred

  • Experience:

    • A minimum of 4 years of mobile application development using Kotlin or Java with a focus on Android platforms including 1 year of technical lead experience preferred.

    • Experience in medical device software development or regulated industries is a plus.

    • Experience in using Agile methodologies like Scrum/Kanban preferred.

    • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

    • Full product life cycle experience, preferably having contributed to products released to market.

  • Leadership if any:

    • Technical oversight and leadership of projects and sub-systems.

    • No direct managerial responsibilities.

  • Travel Requirements:

    • Less than 5%
