SUMMARY

Our Neurology department is dedicated to excellence in patient care, research, and education, and is the home to the Hennepin Healthcare Cerebrovascular Ultrasound lab. We are committed to expanding the current diagnostic tools in the management of acute cerebrovascular conditions, including ischemic stroke, transient ischemic attack, and subarachnoid hemorrhage, using transcranial Doppler (TCD) and carotid ultrasound.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Cerebrovascular Ultrasound Technologist to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our Neurology department, you will play a crucial role in the assessment and diagnosis of cerebrovascular conditions using state-of-the-art ultrasound technology. This position will be working full-time weekday shifts. This is a grant funded position with an expiration date of one year from the start date.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations
  • Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images
  • Uses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathological findings
  • Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician
  • Coordinates work schedule with departmental Supervisor and/or scheduling desk to assure workload coverage
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care
  • Assists with the daily operations of the ultrasound department
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintains adequate supplies
  • Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospital referral or commercial agencies
  • Coordinate with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided
  • Provides ultrasound skill training for ultrasound technologist students and Radiology Residents

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in ultrasound technology and a graduate of an accredited School of Ultrasound Technology by CAAHEP
  • Certification or certification eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). If "eligible", employee must be certified within one year of hire
  • Maintains minimum CE credits as mandated by the accrediting body ARDMS
  • Possess current CPR certification or obtain within 4 months of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (VST)
  • One year of cerebrovascular experience
