Your Job

Our Georgia-Pacific Leaf River Cellulose facility is searching for an Electrical & Instrumentation Intern. A successful individual will be self-motivated, passionate about learning, and interested in pursuing an Electrical & Instrumentation or Automation career. We offer a flexible schedule, but we are targeting 20 hours/week with primary work hours occurring Monday-Friday from 6:00 am-4:30 pm. No Relocation or Housing Assistance will be provided for this role.

The Leaf River team has been on a journey for over 30 years to make the best products possible for customers while doing it in new and innovative ways. Our products include chemical cellulose, custom fibers, and nonwoven materials that are used in products such as diapers, baby wipes and coffee filters. What You Will Do

  • Learn and apply principles of electrical safe work practices and design of automation system within a manufacturing environment
  • Work within the E&I teams learning to apply basic calibration methods for pressure, level, flow, temperature, and analytical instrumentation
  • Learn and apply skills including drawing interpretation, basic three phase motor controls, electrical distribution, and PLC interfacing
  • Shadow E&I teams during routine preventative maintenance tasks and on troubleshooting calls
  • Demonstrate the ability to work safely by identifying hazards and adhering to safety requirements
  • Utilize and/or learn a variety of instrumentation technology, including but not limited to: standard pressure/temperature/level/flow to analyzers such as pH, ORP, and conductivity
  • Utilize and/or learn control systems to include Rockwell Automation programmable logic controllers and Honeywell distributed control systems along with various safety programmable logic controllers


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Currently enrolled and have completed one year of related program or graduate of a certificate, degree, workforce training or accredited post-secondary technology program in one or more of the following: Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Automation & Controls, Instrumentation & Controls, Industrial Electronics, and/or Electronics
