Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA) is thrilled once again to host its Summer Internship Program for clinical and non-clinical departments! The Internship Program is open to undergraduate and graduate students from across the country. CCA Internships are a valuable way for students to obtain real-world experience, gain exposure to a specific field, build their network for the future, and support our members and communities. This program is a great way for CCA to attract and develop exceptional talent as we continue to grow.
instED is seeking a summer intern with an interest in healthcare delivery system innovation for a rare opportunity to gain hands-on knowledge and experience in transforming the care of vulnerable people facing urgent health issues in a dynamic, startup-like environment.
Over the summer, this intern will work closely with the instED Chief Medical Officer and Quality & Safety Project Manager to examine and improve CCA's innovative mobile urgent care service, instED. The intern will receive hands-on experience, including riding along with paramedics who provide in-home visits, observing doctors who supervise the care, and visiting the emergency department in order to see and understand urgent care from start to finish.
Additionally, the intern will receive close supervision and direct teaching in healthcare management, quality improvement, and data analysis from an experienced and well-rated former Harvard Medical/Public Health educator. Lastly, the intern will be given the opportunity to directly shape care delivery in ways that touch thousands of patients, with the potential to for highly productive interns to produce an impressive final product and/or publication. The specific focus will be determined by the needs of instED and the interests of the candidate.
As this type of experience is typically only available to students in elite business and health professional schools, this is not your typical opportunity. Ideal candidates are those with an interest in a career in healthcare delivery, as well as abundant curiosity. Strong quantitative and communication skills are a must; prior healthcare exposure is a plus, but not required. This role can be done hybrid or remote. Historically our interns have come to the Downtown Boston office once per week and had the opportunity to join fun company outings in/near Boston.
