II. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provide doula patient/client navigation, offering emotional, physical, and informational support throughout the pregnancy, labor, and postpartum process.
2. During prenatal visits, meet and actively recruit prenatal patients to promote the Doula program and care, emphasizing the benefits and support offered to expectant mothers.
3. Collect Doula patient intake forms, administer Social Determinants of Health screening to maintain accurate records.
4. Facilitate community childbirth education and lactation classes during evenings and weekends, contributing to the dissemination of vital information to pregnant individuals and their families.
5. Participate in regular weekly team meetings with the Medical Director and Program Coordinator of the UMass Memorial Medical Center Doula Program to ensure alignment with program goals and objectives and to strategize ways to continuously improve Doula-Patient care.
6. Attend regular OBGYN Department meetings, Nursing meetings (Labor & Delivery and postpartum), and Lactation meetings to stay informed and contribute to a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
7. Distribute and assist patients in completing quality assurance surveys to gather feedback for continuous improvement.
8. Help participants of the Doula program to complete surveys to assess program effectiveness.
9. Become an integral part of the Maternity Center team, collaborating with healthcare professionals to enhance the overall childbirth experience for patients.
10. Assist with planning monthly meetings for doula entrepreneurship support, fostering a supportive environment for professional development within the doula community.
11. Contribute to planning quarterly business development workshops to enhance the skills, knowledge, and network of doulas within the program.
12. Attend 1-2 births per month.


III. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:

Required:
1. Accredited Doula Certification or substantial experience in providing Doula services.
2. Currently enrolled as a MassHealth Doula Provider.
Preferred:
1. CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor) or IBCLC (International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants).
Experience/Skills:

Required:
1. Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with patients, team members, and healthcare professionals.
2. Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
3. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
4. Proficient in both written and spoken English.
5. Adept in using Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation, record keeping, and efficient management of client information.
6. Passionate about maternal health equity, antiracism, lifelong learning, and professional development.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
