Manufacturing/Process Engineer

Job Purpose:
The Manufacturing/Process Engineer will have two main functions. The first is to provide direct supportof the daily manufacturing operation, used in the production of PCBA's (Circuit Board Assemblies) andfinished electronic products. The second function is to identify and implement continuousimprovements to maximize operations efficiencies and quality of products. This Engineer will review
customer data and requirements, and use data to create work instructions, order tooling, and createprograms for all assembly machines including Screen Printing, SPI, Pick and Place, Thermal
Profiling/Reflow Oven, AOI, and Wash. They will provide daily production support including debug andoptimization of programs, troubleshooting of products and equipment, scheduling of service and
maintenance, improvement of efficiencies, and quality.


Nature of Duties:

  • Support the manufacturing floor daily operation, and drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
  • Optimize and balance cycle times of assembly lines.
  • Design and implement methods and procedures to manufacture and/or assemble products in conformance to customer and industry specifications.
  • Use engineering education and training to resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.
  • Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments.
  • Analyze process defects and returned products and identify corrective actions.
  • Prepare process and quality documentation and procedures.
  • Construct and manage assembly time standards and support quoting.
  • Compile and evaluate data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process specifications.
  • Provide direct support of the daily SMT (Surface Mount) manufacturing operation, use in the production of PCBA's (Circuit Board Assemblies).
  • Must be able to learn and support the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system and Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC) system used to run a manufacturing operation from an engineering standpoint, and understand how the multiple software systems interact and affect one another.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments.
  • May supervise the activities of others.
  • Other tasks as directed.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Engineering or other related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 8years experience as an Engineer in a machine driven manufacturing environment, with experience in electronics assembly preferred.
  • Oracle experience is highly desired.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience with working understanding of SPC, FMEA, DOE.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential.
  • Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments.
  • Successful experience in a fast paced, multitasking environment required.
  • Experience with or knowledge of IPC-610 and ANSI J STD 001 standards
