Are you a passionate, invested software engineer who wants to make a difference, help cure disease, transform medicine, and improve human health? Do you love designing and building resilient distributed systems, troubleshooting complex workflows, partnering with stakeholders on product discovery, and working in a highly collaborative environment?
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Data Custodian Journeys product engineering team, which is responsible for the Terra Data Repository (TDR) and the Data Use Oversight System (DUOS).
TDR is a platform designed to make it easier for dataset owners to share - and researchers to access - large datasets. It addresses the challenges researchers and data custodians face using and delivering extensive datasets in the cloud.
DUOS is a data sharing platform bringing together researchers submitting and requesting data, and data access committees and institutional officials overseeing the use of the data.
To enable world-class research, we are looking for a full stack engineer who is passionate about maturing our UI, building services on multiple cloud providers (Azure and GCP), designing APIs, and supporting the adoption of community standards. No medical, genomics, or scientific background is required, just an enthusiasm to improve the world of science and medicine, an ability to write exceptional software, and the ability to collaborate with scientists and research administration professionals.
Our ideal candidate will:
Collaborate across Engineering, UX, and Product Management to discover, scope, refine, and deliver valuable user journeys
Take pride in the software we engineer, and the user experience that our software enables
Be able to work independently but know when to ask for, and offer, support
Be comfortable using technologies such as React, TypeScript, Java, Postgres, Kubernetes
Mentor team members and give timely, actionable feedback
Have 5+ years of software engineering experience, though exceptional candidates with less will be considered
