GIS Technician - 12 Months

Westing house is looking for a GIS Technician with good computer skills and proficiency working in various software applications such as Microsoft Suite - Problem resolution; ability to address multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to handle changing and emerging priorities - Interpersonal; customer service; verbal and written communication skills - CAD type drawing skills - Analytical and detail oriented Preferred Skills: Computer Science, Drafting & Design, Engineering Technology, Geography

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5 - 7 years of office experience.
  • Knowledge preferred in the area of: GIS, CAD ESRI ArcMap, ArcEditor, ArcCatalog, Televent ArcFM and Bentley MicroStation General Knowledge of how to perform data Projections and geo-referencing.
  • General Knowledge of how to load data from Multiple formats (CAD, CSV, shape, Trimble, etc.) into GIS. General knowledge of how to create shape files, personal geodatabases, (rasters images) datasets, features attributes, relationships, and spatial references (placing information using raster catalogs how it is put into GIS)
  • General knowledge of how to print maps for cad or GIS systems.
  • Knowledge of how to use a basic computer and related software that meet department needs.
  • General knowledge of property plats, rights-of-way, and surveying principles.
  • Ability to calculate and describe simple rights-of-way. Knowledge of basic engineering principles and practices
